Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is an easy and tax-efficient way to support the Medical Women's Federation (MWF) and its vital work. Here’s how you can participate:

1. Check With Your Employer

Confirm if your employer offers a Payroll Giving scheme. If they don’t, you can find more information on setting one up through the UK  Government's Payroll Giving page.

2. Donate Directly from your Salary

Contributions are deducted from your salary before tax allowing you to benefit from immediate tax relief.

3. Enjoy Tax Savings
Because donations are made pre-tax, they cost you less. For example, a £10 donation only costs £8 if you pay basic-rate tax. Higher-rate taxpayers save even more.

Check the table provided by MWF below for detailed examples of savings.

Consistent Support
Enable MWF to continue advocating for women doctors and addressing critical women’s health issues through your regular donations.

Secure and Flexible
Set up your donations without sharing your bank details and choose how you wish to stay informed or contacted.

By choosing Payroll Giving, you can provide vital support to MWF’s mission while enjoying the benefits of a hassle-free and cost-effective way to contribute.

How Payroll Giving Works

Your donation is made up of two parts:

Your salary donation + tax relief bonus.

By donating through Payroll Giving, MWF receives the full donation amount while you pay less thanks to tax relief. This ensures your contributions can have a greater impact on MWF’s work including supporting women in medicine and advocating for women's health.

The tax relief you generate depends on your tax band. The table below shows what you pay based on your tax rate:

Donation Amount Cost to 20% Taxpayer Cost to 40% Taxpayer Cost to 45% Taxpayer
£7.50 £6.00 £4.50 £4.13
£10.00 £8.00 £6.00 £5.50
£20.00 £16.00 £12.00 £11.00

For Scottish taxpayers, while tax bands may differ, the same principles of tax relief apply.

How Your Regular Donation Helps MWF

Every donation helps MWF advocate for and support medical women across the UK. Regular contributions enable us to:

  • Support medical students and doctors at any stage of their career and help give them career guidance.
  • Provide resources and networking opportunities for women doctors, including conferences and webinars.
  • Enable campaigns and advocacy for women's health.
