MWF Response to evidence of lenient sanctions for doctors who have undertaken sexual offences

MWF are deeply concerned to hear evidence of lenient sanctions for doctors who have undertaken sexual offences. There is no place for sexual misconduct in the medical profession. We urge the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service to act quickly on the findings of this important study to ensure perpetrators of sexual offences face strong sanctions to protect patients, healthcare workers and the wider community. Victims and witnesses who give evidence to the tribunals need legal and psychological support to prevent them being retraumatised by the process.
